Who this course is for

This pathway suits beginners learning to write Arabic and learners who want to improve handwriting or spelling. Share whether you already read Arabic and provide examples of the writing tasks you find difficult during your starting-point discussion.

What you will practise

  • Form Arabic letters and connect them in suitable word positions.
  • Practise spelling, short vowel marks and dictation.
  • Write clear sentences and develop short written passages.

Learning with a clear purpose

Arabic writing requires more than knowing the alphabet in isolation. Letter positions, connections and spacing affect how a word looks, while spelling and sentence structure affect what it communicates. The course brings these tasks together through guided practice.

Course curriculum

What the course covers

01

Letters and handwriting

Practise right-to-left writing, isolated letter forms and shapes at the beginning, middle and end of words. Focus on clear formation and appropriate connections.

02

Words and spelling

Build words from connected letters and practise commonly used vocabulary. Dictation and vowel marking connect what you hear with what you write.

03

Sentences and expression

Move from complete sentences to short paragraphs. Review common writing errors and practise organising a simple idea in readable written Arabic.

Practice between lessons

Write a small set of words, compare the letter forms and identify one change to make. Dictation can reveal a spelling difficulty that copying may hide. For sentences, check both readable handwriting and whether the words express the idea you intended.

Frequently asked questions

Should I learn to read Arabic first?

Reading can support writing because you recognise the forms you practise. If both skills are new, discuss a coordinated starting point.

Is this a calligraphy course?

The outline focuses on everyday handwriting, spelling and expression. It does not promise specialist artistic calligraphy training.

Can I practise writing short paragraphs?

Yes. Short passages are part of later study, after suitable work on letters, words and sentence structure.
